Linux RH6.0 (updated, with python 1.5.2, Kernel 2.2.12, October Gnome)

Used wxGTK and wxPython rpm from wxPython web site.

when I type 'python demo.py' I get a seg fault..

I straced it and here is the last bit of the strace....

Does python seem to work okay otherwise?  I can't tell exactly where it is
when it blows up but since one of the last things done was looking for the
sys module it must be pretty early, but since it's looking for it in the
wxPython package then the package has already been imported and the import
statement was from some member of the package...

Try these and let me know the result:

Start python in the wxPython directory. From the interactive prompt type

    import sys
    import os

If one of these fail then there is something wrong with your python.

    import wxc

If the last is successful then you don't have any trouble importing the main
extension module. Continue with the next step below.  If it segfaults here
then you will probably have to build your own wxPython from sources to iron
out some binary incompatibility between your system and mine.

Otherwise, exit and start python from some other directory, and try these:

    import wxPython
    import wxPython.wx

If these are successful, I'm not sure what to tell you to try next...  You
might try tracing through demo.py and Main.py with the python debugger and
see how far it gets before the segfault.

HTH,

All of the following tests went ok...no segfaults...

I'll have to step through it in the python debugger...Don't have time right
now, but probably tommorow night (or maybe morning)...

I'll let you know...
